The Treble Chorus is a select ensemble made up of Eastman School music majors and women in other majors throughout the University of Rochester, conducted by Dr. Phillip Silvey. The ensemble is dedicated to the performance of beautiful and compelling repertoire created with real women’s voices in mind, including music from the Venetian Ospedali, the German Frauenchor, and contemporary female composers. Recent performances have included Benjamin Britten’s Missa Brevis in D, Leo Delibe’s Messe Breve, and settings of the poetry of Emily Dickinson.  The Treble Chorus has a long-standing tradition of excellence, celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2011.  The ensemble enjoys collaborating with other women’s organizations throughout the Rochester community and participates in the Eastman School Women in Music festival annually.
