Mengru Zheng will be starting her first-year study as a Master of Music student in choral conducting at Eastman School of Music in Fall 2021. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in music education at Central Conservatory of Music, where she studied choral conducting with Professor Li Yang. Mengru is truly passionate with choral and orchestra music, she used to be the associate conductor as well as a soprano at Central Conservatory of Music Department of Music Education Chorus in Beijing. The chorus worked together for five years and performed a great number of Chinese choral music and western choral repertoires from middle ages to modern times.
 
Mengru also worked as the assistant choral conductor at Xishiku Catholic Church Choir. Besides being a conductor, she dedicated her time to educate primary students at Beijing Baizhifang Elementary School and Beijing Yangfangdian Elementary School for two years. She arranged children art songs and the main theme song from the movie Chinese Kongfu to chorus presentation for her students’ yearly concerts. She gained a lot of teaching and stage experiences, which helped her to comprehend the mutual concepts between teaching and conducting.

​Mengru cooperated with Central Conservatory of Music Department of Music Education Chorus at the Half-Yearly Closing Ceremony of National Symposium on Music Education twice a year since the year of 2015, Beijing Youth Music Festival Closing Ceremony from the year 2016 to 2019, Beijing Modern Music Festival as well as German National Youth Chorus Exchange Concert in 2018, the Easter and Christmas Concerts at Xishiku Catholic Church in 2019, the 20thAnniversary of the Establishment of the Institute of Music Education of Central Conservatory of Music Opening Ceremony Concert and the Opening Ceremony of World National Music Week at Central Conservatory of Music in 2019. ​
